How It Works
Download Time = (File Size in MB Γ 8 bits/byte) Γ· Speed in Mbps. Convert MB to megabits first by multiplying by 8, then divide by your connection speed.
Example
500 MB file at 100 Mbps: (500 Γ 8) / 100 = 40 seconds. At 10 Mbps it takes 400 seconds (6.7 minutes).

Why multiply by 8?
Internet speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps), but file sizes are in megabytes (MB). There are 8 bits in a byte, so you multiply to convert.
Why is my real speed slower than my plan?
Your 'up to' speed is theoretical maximum. Real speeds depend on network congestion, Wi-Fi signal quality, server speed, and router hardware.
What speed do I need for 4K streaming?
Netflix recommends 25 Mbps for 4K Ultra HD. Disney+ and YouTube 4K also recommend 25 Mbps minimum.
