Water Intake Calculator

Find out how much water you should drink each day based on your body weight and exercise.

Recommended Daily Water
β€”

How It Works

Water (oz) = Body Weight (lbs) Γ— 0.5 + 12 oz per 30 minutes of exercise. Half your body weight in ounces is a common baseline, plus extra to replace sweat.

Example

160 lbs with 30 minutes of exercise = 80 oz + 12 oz = 92 oz per day (about 2.7 liters).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 8 glasses a day right?
8 Γ— 8 oz (64 oz) is a rough rule. Needs vary with body size, activity, and climate β€” this calculator personalizes the estimate.
Does coffee count toward water intake?
Mostly yes β€” coffee, tea, and food moisture all contribute, though plain water is the most reliable source.
Can I drink too much water?
Yes, extreme amounts in a short time can dilute sodium (hyponatremia). Spread intake through the day and drink to thirst during exercise.
